Aldina Vineyards, Lopez Family

About

Aldina Vineyards is a family-owned winery dedicated to crafting exceptional Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon. Their wines reflect the quality, diversity, and sustainable practices that have sustained our community for generations. Each bottle is a celebration of tradition, quality, and the vibrant spirit of winemaking.

The Founders

Founded by the Lopez family, Aldina started out as a labor of love for Al and Dina Lopez.  After a successful career as publishers of the legendary Lowrider Magazine, Al and Dina were eager to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.  So the couple ventured to the serene Sonoma County, embracing a new adventure.

In 1999, Al took on the challenge of planting a Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard on their 40-acre estate. What started as a passion project soon blossomed into something remarkable. Al dedicated himself to mastering the art of winemaking, enrolling in viticulture courses at Santa Rosa Junior College. As their vineyard flourished, the couple sold the majority of their grapes to local producers, reserving a portion for their own winemaking. The wine quickly became a beloved favorite among family and friends.

Despite their diverse business endeavors, Al and Dina never wavered in their commitment to family, instilling the values of hard work and determination in their children. In 2012, their children, Francisco and Monica Lopez, transformed their parents' hobby into the Aldina Vineyards label, ensuring that each bottle reflects the passion and dedication their parents poured into every aspect of their lives.

The Lopez family are also the owners of Bacchus Landing, a wine tasting venue and event center where the Aldina Vineyards tasting room is located, along with other Sonoma independent winemakers.

Belen Ceja - Winemaker

Growing up in Napa and Sonoma Valleys, Belen was immersed in the wine industry as the daughter of winemaker Armando Ceja. Inspired by her family’s roots, she pursued a degree in Enology and Viticulture from Fresno State. Her passion for winemaking grew during an internship at Enkidu Wine, where she was the only intern offered a permanent position.  Belen also runs and operates Heirs of My Dream, a venture that blends her deep familial legacy with innovative winemaking, while continuing to bring her expertise and love for winemaking to Aldina.
